Course overview

Funeral homes are a unique working environment that warrant specialized training to perform job tasks safely. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires business owners to train their employees on the hazards they face at their place of work, and how to perform their jobs safely; in the deathcare industry, this includes formaldehyde exposure training, bloodborne pathogen exposure training, safe lifting, and more. This course is designed to meet the federal OSHA requirements for mandatory, yearly workplace safety training for funeral professionals. This course is online, self-paced, and contains text, videos, infographics, and interactive scenarios and activities for the student to learn with. This course is not a general industry OSHA course; this course is specialized for funeral professionals with real life examples a deathcare employee may encounter while on the job. Along with deathcare-specific training, this course also covers general OSHA topics, such as emergency action and fire safety, how to use a fire extinguisher, and general PPE guidelines. Students must pass a quiz at the end of this course to validate training, and students will receive a certificate of completion upon completing the course.
