STROKE COMPLICATIONS: DYSPHAGIA

Course overview

Dysphagia is a common complication of stroke. Dysphagia increases poststroke risk for inadequate nutrition, dehydration, poor adherence with oral and solid medication regimens, aspiration pneumonia, and death. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the stroke complications of dysphagia, including its clinical presentation, risk factors, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the posttest and evaluation form.
