STROKE COMPLICATIONS: PERCEPTUAL DISORDERS -- UNILATERAL NEGLECT

Course overview

Unilateral neglect, a common complication of stroke, is a behavioral syndrome characterized by lack of awareness of the paralyzed side of the body that can limit a patient’s ability to perform ADLs, such as eating, dressing, and walking. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the stroke complication of the perceptual disorder of unilateral neglect, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
