Course overview

A small-bore feeding tube (SBFT) is a flexible tube with a narrow-caliber lumen (i.e., 3.5-8 Fr) that is usually inserted through the nose into the stomach or beyond the pyloric sphincter into the duodenum or jejunum for the purpose of delivering enteral nutrition (EN) and fluids (e.g., hydration, some liquid medications, and radiopaque contrast). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of SBFT insertion and verification of placement. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
