STROKE REHABILITATION: EVALUATION AND TREATMENT OF APHASIA

Course overview

Stroke is the most common cause of aphasia, an acquired language disorder that occurs as a result of brain damage (usually to the language-dominant left cerebral hemisphere). Depending on the type of aphasia, patients may be unable to speak, comprehend speech, read, or write. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of evaluation and treatment of aphasia in stroke rehabilitation, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
