Course overview
Substance abuse (SA) is defined as a pattern of substance use that results in physical, mental, or social dysfunction. Women have an 18% lifetime incidence of SA disorders. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of treatment of SA in women, including incidence, risk factors, and models for SA treatment in women, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
