Course overview

Pressure ulcers (PrUs) affect 2 million new patients in the United States each year. Up to 95% of PrUs are thought to be predictable. Medicare and Medicaid recently classified PrUs as one of 8 “reasonably preventable” conditions for which hospitals would no longer be reimbursed. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the use of support surface mattresses in patients with or at risk for PrUs. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
