Course overview
Trisomy 13 (also called Patau syndrome) is a rare and lethal chromosomal disorder caused by the presence of an extra copy (i.e., three, instead of two) of chromosome 13. Fetuses and infants with trisomy 13 have multiple congenital anomalies, typically including CNS, cardiac, and/or renal defects. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of trisomy 13, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
