Course overview
Transparent dressings are ordered to protect and secure I.V. catheters and to protect shallow wounds (e.g., partial-thickness wounds, stage I and II pressure ulcers, superficial burns, and donor sites). Transparent dressings are ideal for these types of wounds because they allow for easy visualization of the wound and basic protection from injury and bacteria. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how transparent wound dressings can be used to promote wound healing. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
