Course overview

Twiddler’s syndrome is an uncommon complication of having a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and is defined as migration of the implanted device inside the body, either intentionally or unintentionally. In twiddler’s syndrome, the pulse generator of the implanted device rotates along its axis and becomes twisted, which can eventually result in lead dislodgment. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of twiddler’s syndrome, its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for patients with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
