URINALYSIS: MEASURING CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF URINE

Course overview

The chemical properties of urine are most often measured as part of the microscopic urinalysis completed in the clinical laboratory. However, these components can also be measured separately and rapidly using chemical reagent test strips, a method that is referred to as point-of-care or dipstick urinalysis. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to perform dipstick urinalysis, including indications for the procedure and how to maintain aseptic technique. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
