Course overview
Vaginal suppository insertion refers to the introduction of a vaginal suppository (i.e., a solid, meltable, cone- or bullet-shaped medication) into the vaginal canal to deliver a locally or systemically acting medication to the vagina. Physicians and licensed nurses can administer vaginal medications by suppository; however, patients can be taught to self-administer the suppository, if they prefer. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to insert a vaginal suppository. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
