Course overview

Water intoxication, also known as dilutional hyponatremia, is an increase in the volume of free water in the body without a commensurate increase in sodium intake. Signs and symptoms of the condition include abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, dizziness, confusion, and seizures. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to assess and manage the patient with water intoxication. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
