Tracheostomy suctioning is important to maintain a patient airway and prevent aspiration pneumonia. A tracheostomy tube is a tube that is inserted into the trachea through an opening in the anterior neck just below the level of the vocal cords. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of performing tracheostomy tube suctioning. Readers may explore any or all of the topics.
