Course overview

Assistive devices (ADs) used for patient transfer are, compared with manual transfer (i.e., transfer completed without ADs), designed to provide a more secure and less traumatic method of moving the patient and to lessen the musculoskeletal demands on the healthcare staff, which reduces the risk of injury to the patient and healthcare staff members. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to safely transfer a patient using an AD. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
