Course overview

Airborne precautions (APs) describe the manner in which a patient will be cared for if he or she is diagnosed with certain airborne pathogens, which are types of microbes that remain infectious when suspended in the air over long distances (≥ 3 feet), or if there is a risk that an airborne pathogen can become aerosolized. Airborne pathogens can become aerosolized during a procedure such as a bronchoscopy. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an opportunity to learn aboutAPs. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
