Contact Lens Dos and Don'ts
Tracking # 20-1347937
Course overview
Contact lenses are among the most regulated, misused, and misunderstood vision-care devices in everyday practice. This one-hour home-study course provides Florida-licensed opticians and other Eye Care Professionals with a practical, real-world guide to improving contact lens outcomes through clearly defined Dos and Donts for both practitioners and patients. Emphasis is placed on risk reduction, patient safety, hygiene, compliance, documentation, and effective communication. Participants will review 20 specific Optician Dos designed to strengthen professional competence and reduce errors, along with 10 Optician Donts that commonly lead to complications, non-compliance, or scope-of-practice concerns. The course also presents 18 Patient Dos and 12 Patient Donts that opticians can adapt for in-office education and written handouts. By the end of this program, participants will be better prepared to counsel contact lens wearers, reinforce healthy behaviors, recognize red-flag situations, and protect both patients and practices through consistent, defensible contact lens protocols.
