Understanding the concept of attenuation of radiation is critical to maintaining the highest levels of Radiation Safety for both patients and radiation workers. This course covers half-value layers and tenth value layers and how radiation exposure is entirely dependent upon the numbers of layers between source and detector. it also covers what happens to intensity of a beam as one removes or adds HVLs or TVLs . In addition, there is a detailed explanation of the difference between monochromatic and polychromatic beams . Finally, it explores the mathematical relationship between the linear absorption coefficient) and the half-value layer and reviews different types of math problems related to attenuation of radiation.
