Course overview
Trauma-informed care acknowledges the intersectional, lived experiences of LGBTQ+ youth and prioritizes support through inclusive, affirming practices. In this training, participants will learn relevant terminology, examine social-ecological risk and protective factors, and apply trauma-informed and strength-based strategies to foster healing, resilience, and empowerment for LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will define key terminology and analyze social-ecological factors contributing to risk and resilience in LGBTQ+ youth across family, school, and community systems. 2. Participants will discuss the core tenets of trauma-informed care to support LGBTQ+ youth in educational and therapeutic settings. 3. Participants will identify strength-based strategies to support and foster acceptance among caregivers and families of LGBTQ+ youth.
