What you'll learn

Upon completion of this course, the healthcare professional will be able to:

1. Identify the pathophysiology, genetic basis, and ECG features of Brugada Syndrome.

2. Apply appropriate diagnostic protocols, including ECG criteria and genetic testing, to confirm Brugada Syndrome.

3. Implement evidence-based pharmacologic, device-based, and emergency management strategies to prevent sudden cardiac death and improve patient outcomes.

Course overview

Brugada Syndrome is a rare, inherited cardiac channelopathy that predisposes individuals to life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, often in otherwise healthy individuals. It is caused by mutations affecting sodium channels (SCN5A gene) leading to characteristic electrocardiogram (ECG) changes and arrhythmogenic risk. Early recognition, proper diagnosis, risk stratification, and management are essential for preventing sudden cardiac death. This course provides healthcare professionals with an in-depth review of Brugada Syndrome, including epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnostic testing, pharmacologic interventions, and emergency management.
