This intermediate, asynchronous, case-based course builds practical skills for assessing and intervening with patients experiencing common mental health concerns encountered across healthcare settings (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, substance use concerns, and suicide risk). Learners practice selecting and applying brief screening tools (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7, PC-PTSD-5, C-SSRS Screen), interpreting results in a clinical context, using therapeutic communication strategies, initiating brief interventions and safety measures, and coordinating referrals and follow-up.
