BRACHIAL PLEXUS NERVE IMPINGEMENT ZONES

Course overview

The brachial plexus is a network of nerve fibers, running from the spine, formed by the ventral rami of the lower four cervical and first thoracic nerve roots (C5-C8, T1). It proceeds through the neck, the axilla and into the arm. It is a network of nerves that supplies brachium (upper arm), antebrachium (forearm) and hand. There are several pains and problems that can be caused when any part of the brachial plexus becomes impinged. In this 4 hour online CEU class for massage therapists we will look at potential impingement sites for nerves of the brachial plexus. There are soft-tissue and bony impingement sites that can be found. Depending on where the nerve is impinged will determine the related symptom. The goal of this class is for the student to gain a clearer understanding of what the nerves of the brachial plexus are, where they are located, where potential impingement sites are and what symptoms are associated with those impingements.
