What you'll learn

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Differentiate AMAN and AMSAN from classic demyelinating GBS.

2. Identify diagnostic tools and acute management strategies for axonal GBS variants.

3. Implement evidence-based treatment, monitoring, and long-term rehabilitation plans.

Course overview

Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is an acute, immune-mediated polyradiculoneuropathy that presents with rapidly progressive weakness and can result in respiratory failure and long-term disability. Acute Motor Axonal Neuropathy (AMAN) and Acute Motor-Sensory Axonal Neuropathy (AMSAN) are severe axonal variants associated with poorer prognosis and prolonged recovery. This advanced course focuses on the distinct pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, treatment strategies, and rehabilitation needs of AMAN and AMSAN, emphasizing early recognition and aggressive intervention to improve outcomes.
