Course overview

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a neuropsychiatric syndrome resulting from liver dysfunction, leading to accumulation of toxins such as ammonia in the bloodstream. It can present as subtle cognitive changes, personality alterations, or overt neurologic dysfunction. Early recognition, prompt management, and ongoing monitoring are essential to reduce morbidity, prevent recurrent episodes, and improve patient outcomes. This course provides a comprehensive approach to HE, including pathophysiology, diagnostic strategies, treatment protocols, and patient education
