Course overview

This is an on-demand course to provide Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Physical Therapists (PTs) and COTA's as well as PTA's with a foundational knowledge of anatomy, kinematics, biomechanics, and how to utilize manual therapy techniques to treat common types of hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries and conditions. Audience: This is a virtual course workshop for OTs, OTAs, PTs, and PTAs for all levels who are interested in advancing manual therapy skills for common injuries and conditions of the UE. Therapists will receive 15 CEUs upon completion. Learning Objectives: After the conclusion of this course participants will: Identify relevant functional anatomy, kinematics, and biomechanics that directly relate to addressing the most common hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder complex disorders. Evaluate all relevant patient history and examination information obtained through clinical testing to formulate a treatment plan. Establish a consistent, accurate, and systematic approach to palpating structures critical for manual therapy of the upper extremity. Demonstrate manual therapy techniques addressing joint and soft tissue limitations that are appropriate for the clinical presentation of each patient. Explain and educate patients appropriately based on examination findings to promote self-management and adherence. Be able to accurately document and bill for treatment services.
