Course overview

This course provides social workers with a comprehensive understanding of domestic violence (DV), including its causes, dynamics, and long-term impacts on individuals and families. Emphasizing trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive practices, the course equips participants with essential skills for risk assessment, safety planning, crisis intervention, and advocacy. Special attention is given to working with marginalized populations such as immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and persons with disabilities. Through practical tools, case studies, and ethical frameworks, social workers will enhance their capacity to support survivors, collaborate across systems, and contribute to the prevention and long-term resolution of domestic violence.
