Blood Product Administration: Safety, Standards and Clinical Excellence

Course overview

The focus of this course is patient safety, accurate identification, proper handling and monitoring throughout the transfusion process. Learners who take and successfully complete this course will be able to:  -Demonstrate understanding of blood component therapy, verification procedures and infusion policies in the patient care setting.  -Identify the importance of patient and caregiver education related to blood product transfusions and safety precautions. -Demonstrate early recognition of transfusion reactions when presented with a clinical scenario. -Recognize evidence-based practices, policy and procedures and demonstrate competence from order verification through post-transfusion documentation. To receive credit for this course, learners must successfully pass a post-course exam with at least a score of 80%.
