This course equips social workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to support adults experiencing chronic pain. Chronic pain is a multidimensional condition that significantly affects quality of life, mental health, relationships, employment, and access to care. Social workers are uniquely positioned to provide biopsychosocial assessments, support interdisciplinary collaboration, and advocate for equitable treatment across diverse populations. This course explores the psychological, social, and cultural aspects of chronic pain, evidence-based treatment models, systemic barriers, and the ethical responsibilities involved in working with this population. Emphasis is placed on trauma-informed care, client-centered communication, and building resilience in both clients and providers.
