What you'll learn
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define heart failure and classify patients according to current guidelines, including stages and ejection fraction categories
- Identify the primary etiologies and risk factors for heart failure development
- Describe the diagnostic approach to heart failure, including clinical presentation, laboratory testing, and imaging
- Apply guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)
- Recognize treatment strategies for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF)
- Manage acute decompensated heart failure, including assessment and treatment
- Educate patients on self-management strategies to prevent hospitalizations
