The goal of this training is to improve the clinician's understanding of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) strategies in helping clients manage powerful emotions this includes anxiety, stress, worry, and reducing emotional responses to limit perseverative thinking. In this presentation, Dr. Charles Jacob will provide an overview of the basics of DBT strategies to help afflicted clients reduce suffering, focusing exclusively on the concepts and constructs of emotion regulation. Covered treatment strategies will include improving empathy to improve the therapeutic relationship, the basics of emotion regulation strategies, and using specific coping skills (TIP, PLEASED, etc.) to reduce overall suffering.
