What you'll learn

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the clinical features and risk factors associated with atypical Kawasaki Disease.

2. Describe the diagnostic approach, including laboratory and imaging studies, for patients with suspected incomplete KD.

3. Implement evidence-based management strategies to reduce complications and optimize pediatric patient outcomes.

Course overview

Kawasaki Disease (KD) is an acute, systemic vasculitis that primarily affects children under five years of age. Atypical or incomplete KD occurs when patients do not meet the full classic diagnostic criteria, making recognition challenging. Delayed or missed diagnosis can lead to serious cardiovascular complications, including coronary artery aneurysms. This course provides healthcare professionals with a comprehensive overview of atypical Kawasaki Disease, including pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnostic evaluation, pharmacologic management, and long-term care strategies.
