Course overview

This 120-minute training incorporates various systemic factors that affect the wellbeing of first-generation college students, particularly when experiencing a crisis. Professionals will learn effective approaches to support the wellbeing of young adults and their families. After completing this course, participants will be able to: 1. Recognize the social wellbeing, academic, and administrative realities that impact first-generation college students. 2. Accurately identify ways in which to incorporate effective strategies in supporting wellbeing and managing a crisis with individuals who are first-generation college students. 3. Recognize the unique wellbeing, mental health and substance use concerns affecting this population. 4. Identify strategies to use when managing a crisis involving first-generation college students.
