Course overview

In this practical and encouraging session, licensed mental health professionals, and ministry leaders will examine how helicopter parenting can inhibit children's development of resilience, self-regulation, and self-advocacy. Participants will identify why emotional, behavioral, and decision-making regulation, along with advocacy skills, are essential for fostering confidence, independence, and success. The workshop highlights core unmet needs, security, identity, belonging, purpose, and competence, which can fuel emotional outbursts or passive behaviors, and examines the role of technology in shaping these patterns. Participants will gain practical strategies and simple language to help children manage emotions, navigate confusion, and take healthy responsibility for their actions. Biblical principles and character development will be integrated to provide a faith-based perspective for willing Chrisitan clients. Attendees will leave with actionable tools to teach self-regulation and self-advocacy in ways that children can understand, remember, and apply in daily life, supporting both personal growth and relational harmony.
