Course overview
Students will be exposed to anatomy and function of muscle and joints of the anterior and posterior cervical spine and the cranium. Techniques for palpating these structures and for treating soft tissues will be given, including muscles of the entire neck, TM joint and tongue. Students should leave the class with a thorough understanding of the myofascial components of pain patterns in these areas. Discussion will include muscular causes of a variety of headache patterns, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, cervical disc pathologies, common surgeries of the region, swallowing and speech dysfunction, and much more.
