Course overview

This course satisfies the Florida Licensure Renewal requirement. Upon completion of this module: 1. Participants will be able to describe at least four types of domestic abuse. 2. Describe characteristics of Elder abuse. 3. Participants will be able to articulate at least five risk factors for domestic violence. 4. Articulate appropriate strategies for health care providers to utilize when interacting with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence 5. Recognize risk factors for Military Sexual Trauma. 6. Describe Florida law regarding the role of the health care provider and suspected domestic violence 7. The nurse will understand ANA provision number three (3) of the Code of Ethics for Nurses as it related to protecting the rights and safety of the patient and integrating the provision (9) of social justice for the well-being of the common good in humanity.
