Course overview

About 46% of women and 33% of men say they experience sexual dysfunction (Briken et al., 2020). Sexual dysfunction is when an individual is facing significant challenges related to their ability to experience pleasure or respond sexually. It is an important healthcare problem that needs to be addressed sufficiently. Behavioral health providers need to be prepared to adequately discuss sexual health concerns with individuals. A person's behavioral health can be both the cause and the cure for many sexual dysfunctions. This course provides an overview of sexual dysfunctions, their causes, and how behavioral health professionals can intervene to improve the quality of the client's life. It also covers sexual dysfunctions across the adult lifespan, including young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults.
