Approximately 1 in 10 of the world's population will meet the criteria for a substance use disorder (SUD) at some point in their lives. Therefore, providers serving those with substance use disorders must be trained to deliver high-quality, effective treatment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a well-established, evidence-based approach for various mental and behavioral health issues, including SUD. In the context of SUDs, CBT can help individuals recognize and alter the thought and behavioral patterns that contribute to their substance use, ultimately supporting their recovery and preventing setbacks.
