Course overview
This course equips healthcare professionals with advanced knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, and ethical care. Participants will explore current epidemiology, risk factors, and strategies for reducing transmission. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practices, including routine testing, antiretroviral therapy (ART), pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP/PEP), and patient education. The course also addresses ethical considerations, such as confidentiality, informed consent, non-discriminatory care, and culturally competent communication, enabling providers to deliver patient-centered care while complying with Florida licensure requirements.
