Course overview
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) refers to a group of neurodevelopmental disorders that manifest as a range of social communication, sensory processing, and behavioral deficits. Although not every patient with ASD will require a change in clinical care provided, the increasing prevalence of this condition necessitates that EMS personnel be knowledgeable of the unique needs of this patient population, so that those caring for patients with ASD can offer greater support, flexibility, and patience.
