Course overview
This course discusses the characteristics of gunshot and stab wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals should have a baseline understanding of care considerations surrounding this form of trauma. This knowledge will help the EMS professional better anticipate the types of physical damage associated with penetrating trauma, which can strengthen focused assessments and guide interventions. This course provides EMS professionals in prehospital settings with an introduction to firearm and stab injuries and care of the patient with penetrating trauma.
