This course reviews Marfan syndrome with an emphasis on earlier clinical recognition, standardized diagnosis, and longitudinal risk management for heritable thoracic aortic disease. Participants will apply the Revised Ghent Nosology and interpret aortic-root Z-scores to support timely identification and referral decisions. The course compares standard medication classes used to slow aortic-root expansion and reviews how longitudinal imaging surveillance is used to monitor growth and guide escalation of care. It also addresses multidisciplinary coordination for extracardiac manifestations, activity counseling, pregnancy risk assessment, and family cascade screening. Marfan syndrome can be missed because early findings may be subtle, family history may be unclear, and features can overlap with other connective tissue disorders. When diagnosis is delayed, patients may miss timely aortic surveillance, counseling, and risk reduction. This course closes that gap by walking clinicians through a consistent approach to recognizing red-flag findings, applying the Revised Ghent Nosology and aortic-root measurements, and coordinating longitudinal care across cardiology, genetics, and other specialties.
