Dementia: Recognition, Differentiation, and Management

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

1. Define dementia and understand its impact on cognitive, functional, and behavioral domains.

2. Differentiate dementia from other cognitive disorders, including delirium and depression.

3. Identify common types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and Lewy body dementia.

4. Conduct thorough assessments using standardized cognitive tools and clinical evaluation.

5. Develop individualized care plans incorporating pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.

6. Recognize the role of caregivers and provide guidance to support them effectively.
