Menopause is a universal life transition, yet many postmenopausal women continue to feel underprepared and undertreated in clinical practice. In the United States, approximately 6,000 women enter menopause each day, accounting for more than 1.3 million women annually, with an estimated 75% to 80% experiencing bothersome symptoms. Vasomotor symptoms, including hot flashes and night sweats, are among the most prevalent and disruptive concerns and may persist for years into postmenopause, negatively affecting sleep, mood, sexual health, productivity, and overall quality of life. Nurse practitioners are frequently the primary point of contact for women navigating this transition and are well positioned to lead comprehensive, evidence-based menopause care. By the end of this course, participants can: Describe key physiologic changes of post menopause and how they influence common symptoms and long-term health risks. Apply current evidence based options including hormonal, non-hormonal, and emerging therapies for managing postmenopausal symptoms in diverse patient populations. enhance patient counseling and shared decision-making to improve symptom recognition, treatment adherence, and overall quality of life. Integrate practical lifestyle strategies (nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral interventions) into individualized postmenopausal care plans.
