Course overview

Are your patients "stuck" and feel rigid through their rib cage? Do they exhibit a limited variety in play skills? Do they fatigue faster than expected or take longer to complete mealtime activities? The rib cage and pelvis require mobility and core stabilization to achieve proper alignment and an effective base of support for energy-efficient functional activities, including play, sound production, eating/drinking, and movement. This webinar will emphasize the development of appropriate intervention strategies for children (2-6 years old) who exhibit difficulties with proper alignment and achieving an active base of support, which impacts their mobility, oral and respiratory coordination, motor skills, phonation, and overall energy efficient function. Evidence from contemporary science and a greater understanding of current theories in neuroplasticity and motor behavior are drawn upon to enhance clinical reasoning skills. This course will highlight the importance of collaboration among PTs, OTs, and SLPs. Through lectures, video analysis, case studies, and discussion, participants will learn practical applications and treatment strategies they will be able to bring to their practice.
