Course overview

The Sports Dry Needling System (SDNS) is a comprehensive two-day continuing education course focusing on the application of dry needling for the effective management of common upper extremity injuries and dysfunction. Participants may include Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Occupational Therapists, and students in these disciplines. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of how to integrate dry needling with other evidence-based techniques, including manual therapy (joint mobilizations and manipulation), instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), iBFR, and targeted corrective exercises. The course will cover conditions such as cervical and thoracic pain/strain, shoulder pain (bursitis, tendinopathy, impingement), elbow pain/sprain (UCL, epicondylagia, tendonitis), biceps tendinopathy, radius fracture, and CMC/TFCC dysfunction. Emphasis will be placed on clinical reasoning to determine appropriate interventions, safe and proficient dry needling application with consideration of electrical stimulation parameters, and the synergistic use of adjunctive therapies for optimal patient outcomes.
