Diabetic Neuropathy: Assessment and Evidence-Based Management

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

1. Define diabetic neuropathy and understand its clinical significance.

2. Identify types of diabetic neuropathy, including peripheral, autonomic, proximal, and focal neuropathies.

3. Recognize early and late signs and symptoms of neuropathic complications.

4. Conduct comprehensive neuropathy assessments using validated tools.

5. Apply evidence-based pharmacologic interventions for symptom control and disease modification.

6. Implement non-pharmacologic strategies, including lifestyle modifications and foot care.

7. Educate patients and caregivers about risk reduction, self-care, and early warning signs.

8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including endocrinologists, podiatrists, and physical therapists.
