When Neutrophils Go on Strike: Inpatient Management of Neutropenic Fever

Course overview

One (1) hour of CE credit has been applied for through the Florida Board of Pharmacy. The presentation will be given in the Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, Department of Pharmacy, 701 6th Street S., St. Petersburg, Florida 33701. Upon completion of this program, the participants in the program will be able to (1) describe the pathophysiology, risk factors, and diagnostic criteria of Febrile Neutropenia (FN) in adult patients; (2) Identify high-risk versus low-risk FN using validated risk stratification tools; (3) Apply evidence-based guideline recommendations to select empiric antimicrobial therapy for FN; (4) evaluate patient-specific factors to optimize antimicrobial escalation, de-escalation, and duration of therapy.
