Course overview

For more than 40 years, adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) have been described as the "orphan child of disability," often misunderstood, undiagnosed, and unsupported by the systems meant to help them. In this workshop, the FASD Changemakers Adult Leadership Committee examines what has gone wrong and why these challenges persist. What happened? Why is it still happening? Participants will be challenged to rethink current systems and consider how they can become part of meaningful solutions. Learning Objectives: Define the term "orphan child of disability" in relation to adults with FASD. 2. Identify common barriers affecting adults with FASD. 3.
