TEA CE: Working with Spiritual/Religious Abuse and Resulting Trauma

Course overview

CE Presentation Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to identify the key characteristics of spiritual and religious abuse, including coercive control, misuse of religious texts, and the impact of unhealthy power dynamics within faith communities. 2. Participants will be able to describe how spiritual abuse/religious trauma uniquely affects the mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being of a survivor, and how it intersects with other forms of trauma. 3. Participants will be able to apply trauma-informed and faith-sensitive strategies to effectively support survivors of spiritual/religious abuse in ways that foster safety, healing, and restoration of agency.
