Course overview

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic health conditions worldwide and requires continuous medical care, patient education, and lifestyle management to prevent complications. Healthcare professionals play a critical role in helping patients manage blood glucose levels, adhere to treatment plans, and understand the long-term effects of the disease. Nurses and allied healthcare providers are often responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications, and providing essential patient education. This course provides an overview of advanced diabetes management strategies, including glucose monitoring, medication management, insulin therapy, dietary considerations, and prevention of complications. Healthcare professionals will review current clinical approaches to managing both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in various healthcare settings. Participants will also explore the importance of patient education and self-management strategies. Educating patients, especially those newly diagnosed with diabetes, helps them develop the knowledge and confidence needed to manage their condition effectively. By strengthening clinical understanding and improving patient communication strategies, healthcare professionals can enhance patient outcomes and reduce diabetes-related complications.
